How we collect, use, disclose and store personal information.

This privacy policy explains how Iaso Health Pty Ltd ABN 35 621 345 695, operating the SLOWageing website at slowaging.org, collects, uses, discloses and stores personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using this website, subscribing to our list or engaging with our content, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described here.

Who we are

SLOWageing is operated by Iaso Health Pty Ltd. The website slowaging.org publishes research, editorial content and tools related to healthy ageing. It is the home of the book series Fast Living, Slow Ageing. SLOWageing is education and synthesis. It is not clinical advice and does not replace consultation with a qualified practitioner.

What we collect

  • Name and email address, provided through our subscription form, contact form or email correspondence
  • Age range and main area of interest, where you choose to provide them
  • Comments, questions or other free-text information you submit
  • Website usage data collected through cookies and analytics tools

We do not collect sensitive information as defined under the Privacy Act unless you voluntarily provide it. We do not ask for, and do not want, clinical or medical information through our forms.

How we use it

  • Send you the content, updates and resources you have asked to receive
  • Respond to your enquiries and correspondence
  • Improve the website and understand how readers use our content in aggregate
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share form data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Cookies and analytics

The website uses Google Analytics 4 to collect: pages visited, time spent on each page, referrer, approximate location (city or region level), device and browser type, and an anonymous identifier. This data is used in aggregate to understand which content is read. It is not used to personally identify individual visitors.

You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, browsing in private/incognito mode, or configuring your browser to refuse cookies.

Where your data is held

Form submissions are collected by Zoho Forms and held in our Zoho CRM account, hosted in Zoho's Australian data centre. Email correspondence is held in Zoho Mail. Google Analytics data is operated by Google and stored outside Australia.

Some Zoho support and infrastructure functions, and our Google Analytics data, may be processed on servers located outside Australia (including in the United States and India). Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is treated in accordance with Australian privacy standards. By using the website and submitting our forms, you consent to this transfer.

Disclosure

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Zoho Corporation, which provides our CRM, forms and email platforms
  • Google, which provides our website analytics
  • Other service providers who help us operate the website or deliver content
  • Regulatory or government bodies where required by law

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including access controls and secure hosting. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to deliver the content and services you have asked for, comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or deidentify it.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date
  • Request deletion where we are not required by law to retain it
  • Withdraw consent, including unsubscribing from our list at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email Kate Marie at kate.marie@slowaging.org. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
