Actions to prevent breast cancer

Get an annual mammogram

Perform a monthly breast self-examinations

  1. Dimpling, puckering, or bulging of the skin
  2. A nipple that has changed position or an inverted nipple
  3. Redness, soreness, rash, or swelling
  4. Fluid coming out of one or both nipples
  5. Distortions, lump or swelling, especially if they are new

Actively prevent weight gain, especially after the menopause

Give up smoking—encourage others to give up too as passive smoking will still affect your risk of breast cancer

Eat a low fat diet naturally high in antioxidants

Keep up your Vitamin D levels

Moderate your alcohol intake

Get better sleep

Minimize your exposure to plastic products
